For basic short-term international coverage, Visitors Care Insurance offers a plethora of options. With maximum benefits ranging from $25,000 to $100,000, and the deductibles from zero to $100, there are nine visitors care insurance plan options for applicants to choose from.
The duration of the visitor insurance plan can be as short as five days, and as long as 12 months. If additional coverage is required, the plan allows extension for another 12 months; however, this will be under a new policy.
For all options of the Visitors Care insurance policy, the following benefits are offered, with equal coverage limits: emergency evacuation, return of mortal remains in case of death, incidental home country coverage for short in-between trips to the home country, and common carrier accident death benefit.
All Visitor Care insurance plans cover similar medical expenses. The difference is in the maximum benefit for each. Typically, charges related to ambulance and emergency services, doctor consults and visits, surgery, tests, prescription drugs, nursing, and physiotherapy are covered by all the visitor care insurance plans. Damage to the natural teeth also nets coverage in the Visitors Care health insurance plan.
In Visitors Care, you get fixed benefits. That means that each benefit has a predetermined coverage maximum, and if the costs are more than the insured amount, you must pay the excess amount.
Visitor health insurance typically provides coverage for the treatment of any new injury or illness. Pre-existing conditions, wellness visits and maternity are usually not covered.
It is often easier to use a provider within the preferred provider network because the Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) may be able to directly work with the policy. This means that no cash is required during billing. However, it is not required to seek medical care within the preferred provider network. The PPO links to a list of relevant providers in the United States, and for international travel, the insured can access the Visitors Care Insurance online list of health care providers. For emergencies, travel-related aid is available 24/7.
Visitors Care insurance is underwritten by Sirius International Insurance Corporation (publ), rated A (excellent) by A.M. Best and A- by S&P. In general, your visitors insurance policies are underwritten by well-known companies.
