Open Question: Has any one else had a bad experience with Unitrin Auto Insurance?
This is less of a question and more of a public service announcement. I noticed that when searching for information about Unitrin Direct Auto Insurance yahoo answers came up at the top of the page. I saw that lots of people had questions about their cheap rates.

Well. You get what you pay for. I had a brand new 2008 Honda Fit Sport. Long story short, it got flooded. Totaled the vehicle. I knew that when it happened from being a mechanic for a few short years back.

HOWEVER, IT TOOK THEM ALMOST 2 MONTHS TO EVEN LOOK AT THE VEHICLE! They never called me either. NEVER! The only way that i even found out what was going on was by waiting on hold for 15 minutes each time. Its now been 3 months since the incident and they finally decided to reimburse me. A whopping $15,000 for a car that i payed $19,500 for only 5 months prior. To top it off they even tried to pull one over on me by saying that i did not need to involve my lien holder in the situation and that they would take care of all that was needed. Fortunately i have dealt with a totaled car once before and immediately saw what they were trying to pull. They even took the rotting carcass of my beautiful new car away 3 weeks before they even sent the check or had my authorization. It was just gone from the shop one day.

Whatever you do don’t deal with these sleazeballs unless you are really really desperate for that 10 bucks you may save through them.

P.S. I never was contacted by insurance adjuster. EVER! I always had to call the and demand to speak with a manager.
