Open Question: Does it matter that my Discovery Benefits certificate of coverage has the wrong dates? What do I do?
I had dental insurance coverage starting in March 2008. This is shown correctly on my dental insurance card and at least one claim was paid during 2008. However, the certificate that Discovery Benefits sent in the mail (to use to avoid having pre-existing conditions excluded if I am covered by a different plan in the future) says that I did not have dental insurance until January 2009. They say that this is what my former employer told them.
1. Does this matter? Or do only the dates for medical coverage matter (not the dates for dental coverage)?
2. Who do I contact to have this fixed? Discovery Benefits or the former employer?
